LENS IMPLANTS
£1950.00 Inclusive of both eyes

For those whose prescription is outside the normal treatment range of Laser Vision Correction, then intraocular lens implants are an option which is available. Implanted lenses can be used for the correction of more severe levels of short sight, long sight and astigmatism. Implants are a tiny lens which is placed inside the eye in a manner similar to that used for cataract patients. The lens is inserted through a small incision in the side of the cornea and sits in front of the eye's natural lens, just behind the cornea. The benefits of this method are that the treatment is pain free as it is conducted under a general anesthetic, and also the visual recovery is fast with very good visual acuity results and the success rate is very good.

Suitability

By Using implanted lenses it is now possible to treat patients with prescriptions from -20 dioptres to +10 dioptres with (+/-) 5 dioptres of astigmatism. It is also possible to treat patients who are unsuitable for laser treatment because their corneal thickness is considered to thin for Laser correction.

We do not consider this treatment to be suitable for people over the age of 60 with early cataracts, people with glaucoma, recurrent eye infections or other eye diseases.

Consultation

In the case of Implant surgery there will need to be a separate initial consultation to determine your suitability, and also to enable the surgeons to determine the strength of lenses required. These lenses are then made to your exact specifications and will be ready in about 1 week, at which time the operation can be carried out in our own surgical unit at Calais by one of only 15 Surgeons in the whole of France who are Qualified to perform these operations.

Arrangments will then be been made for you to be seen after one week in our London Aftercare Centre. Further follow up and aftercare visits which may be requied after one month will be as instructed by the surgeon.
