Aspirin May Protect Vision of Diabetics

In A report from Reuters News Agency, US researchers believe that Aspirin may preserve vision in diabetic patients. A team of from the Schepens Eye Research Insitute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Examined donated retinas from diabetic and other non-diabetic individulas. They found that the capillaries within the diabetic eye contain more and larger blood clots than those of the non-diabetics. This is something that has been suspected for some time now, since the blood clots found consisted of platelets and fibrin, anti-platelets such as those found in Aspirin could prevent the Blood clots from forming and blocking the capillaries.
